19,000 farmers receive agricultural inputs from Zamfara govt

—

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State expressed his administration’s strong commitment to revitalizing the agricultural sector by offering substantial support to farmers.

Recently, he inaugurated the Nigeria Coronavirus (COVID-19) Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (N-CARES) program in collaboration with the Fadama III project.

The launch of the Fadama III project took place at the State Ministry of Agriculture in Gusau, targeting beneficiaries from 14 local government areas.

Governor Lawal announced ambitious plans to distribute over 700 power tillers and seeds for rice and maize to 19,000 farmers across the state.

Emphasizing the determination to bolster the agricultural sector, the governor highlighted the importance of supporting farmers to enhance their capacity for commercial food production.

This initiative aims to contribute significantly to food security and economic development in Zamfara State.

Governor Lawal reiterated his administration’s dedication to providing social interventions for the less privileged and vulnerable individuals in the state.

Under the Fadama III program, he outlined an empowering initiative to reach 100,000 farmers with essential equipment and seeds over the next four years. This initiative aligns with the recently signed 2024 Rescue budget.

The COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Programme, as explained by the governor, is a comprehensive effort addressing three critical areas.

This program is strategically designed to tackle specific challenges and leverage opportunities for a robust post-pandemic recovery.

The distribution of essential agricultural items during the program included fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, and improved seeds.

Governor Lawal’s administration is emphasizing a comprehensive strategy to strengthen the agricultural sector and promote lasting development in Zamfara State.

This approach underscores a commitment to addressing various aspects of agriculture in a thorough manner, aiming for long-term sustainability and growth in the region.

The focus is on fortifying the foundation of the agricultural landscape to ensure it thrives and contributes significantly to the overall prosperity of Zamfara State under Governor Lawal’s leadership.
