Why I took a break from the scene -Reminisce

Family is everything and spending time with family and loved ones is a memory one would cherish for a lifetime. So taking time off work or a career to spend time with family is a valid reason to take a break.

Reminisce, a Nigerian hip-hop artist, has shared the reasons behind his deliberate retreat from the music industry. The artist has been low for a while now, but even in his absence in the music space he has always been supportive of young artists and used his voice and platform for just cause.

In an interview with Zero Conditions, the musician said that his family came before his work and realized that a little too late when the family was almost hitting the rocks. He did not have time for his wife and kids and missed out on a lot of family moments.

He said:

“There were times I didn’t see my kids for 4 days but we lived together. When I get back, they’re in school…

“One of the reasons I actually did take a step back. Let me tell you this story. Some years back, my wife changed the entire setup of our house.”

“It was around that period when I was dropping albums every year and touring. My house painting was changed for almost two years and I didn’t notice.”

“That was when I realised that I need to take a step back and be with my family. Family over everything.”

Reminisce revealed that his profession was eating up all of his time and that, despite living with his children, he hardly ever saw or noticed changes in his home. Reminisce made his much awaited reappearance after seven years with the release of his highly anticipated album “ATSG, Vol. 1.”

He prioritized his children before his art, devoting time to them so he wouldn’t lose out on their lives. He is putting in the works now and it is evident in the time he spends with is family
