Chelsea FC announced that Enzo Fernández’s season has been cut short due to an injury sustained during their recent match against Arsenal.
The 23-year-old midfielder underwent successful surgery for a groin issue and will now focus on rehabilitation, sidelining him for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.
Fernández will be working closely with the club’s medical team at Cobham during his recovery according to the club:
“Enzo Fernandez has today undergone successful surgery on a groin issue and will now begin a period of rehabilitation, sidelining him for the remainder of Chelsea’s 2023/24 season.
The 23-year-old midfielder will work with the club’s medical department on his rehabilitation at Cobham.”
Despite his arrival from Benfica with high expectations, Fernández’s performance hasn’t matched his price tag, with no goals in 18 games last season and 10 goal involvements in 40 appearances this season.
