VDM Pleads with Davido for Dammy Krane’s Release

On August 28, Nigerian social media activist Martins Otse Vincent, widely known as Verydarkman (VDM), took to Instagram to reveal details about an encounter at a police station that has since sparked widespread public interest.

In his post, VDM described how he unexpectedly met Nigerian singer Dammy Krane in custody during a visit to the station.

VDM explained that he had gone to the police station to thank the officers who had assisted him with his work. While there, he was informed by another detainee that a celebrity with dreadlocks was being held in one of the cells. Intrigued, VDM requested to see the individual and was surprised to find that it was Dammy Krane.

“I wasn’t expecting to see him,” VDM stated, adding that their relationship had been tense due to past insults from Krane. When VDM asked Krane why he was in custody, Krane responded that he had been arrested by Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.

According to VDM, Krane claimed, “It was Davido who put me here.” VDM then confronted Krane about his previous allegations against Davido, saying, “Why won’t he? You constantly attack him and his family unprovoked and without proof. You started off by saying that he owed you money and changed his name from OBO to OB owe, without proof.”

Despite their troubled past, VDM made a public plea to Davido, urging him to release Dammy Krane from detention. “David Adeleke, Davido, you be my brother, you be my guy, and one thing I know about you is that you’re a jolly good fellow and you’re not an oppressor,” VDM began in his heartfelt appeal. He continued, “I want to beg you, this is not who you are, this is not your personality… abeg! Give this guy a second chance.”

He also gave Dammy Krane a sum of N250,000 for food and other supplies he would need while in custody.

The incident comes just days after Dammy Krane took to his X account on August 22, 2024, to claim that the police had illegally arrested him on Davido’s instructions over defamation. In his posts, Krane accused Davido of trying to frame him with false allegations to protect his interests, stating that he was being “arrested & oppressed for seeking justice.”
