Trending Today: Media Highlights!

In today’s trending reports on The News Chronicle;

  1. The UEFA Champions League season commences, with UEFA.com predicting the first matchday line-ups.
  2. Popular star Davido also makes the trend as he pays his respect to the late rapper Mohbad by declaring his return to Nigeria for Mohbad’s candlelight service which is to be held on Thursday 21st September 2023 by 5 pm. He posted; “Mohbad your spirit is strong ooo. Sleep come hard me”. The candlelight procession will begin at Lekki Phase 1 Gate and end at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos, where the Tribute Concert will be held at 8 pm.
  3. As part of the #justiceforMohmad movement, Splash FM as well as other radio stations, has ordered a ban on Naira Marley songs across all stations. “This is with immediate effect” the statement read.
  4. Meanwhile, Tems has caused a stir on the internet with a video that was shared of her. Many netizens believe what appeared to be a slight bump in her belly was a baby bump. Personally, I think this to be a subtle invasion of body privacy and body shaming. Slightly similar to the wild theory where a crease on Meghan Markle‘s dress was thought to be a hidden microphone! A woman’s body is never always the same. However, this just goes to say that the fate of celebrities is to be constantly subjected to unwarranted scrutiny by a vast crowd of witnesses called netizens.
