I’ve always been put off
By Christians who bluff
About the ‘blood of Christ’.
That was until a Christian Knight
Took time to show me the way
And what the Holy Bible says.
I learnt my rescue from sin
Was not simple – but a great issue!
The Bible said it took the blood:
The Blood of the Son of God
To wash my sins away
And put me into God’s way.
I discovered in the book of Hebrews
That my sins… For God to forgive?
“…without the shedding of blood
There’s no forgiveness of sin by God”:
“…and if there is no shedding of blood,
There is no remission”.
I discovered in the Book of Peter, the saint
That Christ Jesus, although innocent,
Died for the sins of sinners guilty
To bring them home into God’s safety!
“For Christ once suffered for the unjust
To bring us back to God – Just”.
In the book of Colossians, I found something strange-
That to Jesus, I owe a little wage;
Cos’ our freedom he paid with blood,
And our sins he washed, with his blood-
“…that delivered us from the power of darkness
And translated us into a kingdom of luminescence”.
In Colossians, I also discovered
That Jesus’ death on the cross had
Made peace with God for those who believe.
“… And for us to live
Jesus made peace with his blood to reconcile all things unto God”.
From 1st John, I learnt that his blood
“Cleanseth us from sins and from all odds”.
I discovered my role in this salvation plan
Was to remember what Christ did on my behalf
And then, turning away from my sin,
Accept, and give my heart to him.
Now, I know why Christians sing
A rhyme in my heart, it continually rings,
About the precious blood of Jesus:
Without it, there is no salvation.
