S’ Court Upholds Fubara’s Election As Rivers Governor

—

The Supreme Court has on Thursday 25 January, voided an appeal by the All Progressives Congress candidate in the Rivers State governorship election, Tonye Cole.

Cole challenged the INEC’s declaration of Fubara and also asked the apex court to nullify his ( Siminalayi Fubara) election as the governor of the state.

He alleged that the election was marred by irregularities and that Fubara did not validly resign his previous position as required by the law, prior to the March 18 governorship election in the state.

Both the tribunal and the appellate court dismissed his case for lacking in merit.
