Reddit is set to introduce AI-powered search result pages featuring summaries at the top.Â
This new feature aims to enhance user engagement by summarizing and recommending content, facilitating deeper dives into topics and helping users discover new communities.
The technology behind this initiative will combine Reddit’s own resources with external tools. This experiment is slated to begin later in the year.
This development follows Reddit’s recent collaboration with OpenAI, where OpenAI’s large language models are employed to create AI-driven functionalities.
Additionally, Reddit has granted OpenAI access to its data, similar to an agreement made with Google earlier.
AI innovations were a key focus in Reddit’s latest earnings call, where CEO Steve Huffman highlighted the company’s successful AI-powered language translation feature.
This feature has notably increased Reddit’s user base in France and is being expanded to German, Spanish, and Portuguese.
In the company’s second quarterly earnings report since going public, Reddit announced 342.3 million weekly active users, marking a 57% increase from the previous year.
The company also reported a revenue increase to $281.2 million, surpassing Wall Street’s expectations of $253.8 million.
