American singer and hip-hop producer, Pharrell Williams, has expressed his frustration with American celebrities who publicly endorse political candidates, especially as the presidential election approaches.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Williams shared that he stays away from politics and finds it irritating when other celebrities try to influence people’s voting decisions.
“I don’t get involved in politics. Honestly, it bothers me when I see celebrities telling people who to vote for,” he explained.
He continued by saying that many of these celebrity endorsements feel unnecessary and unasked for. While he respects some celebrities and their opinions, he believes not all of them should be sharing their political views publicly. “There are some celebrities I admire who have something to say, but others? I just think, ‘Why are you talking? Nobody asked for your opinion’,” he added.
Recently, several American celebrities, such as Taylor Swift, Megan Thee Stallion, and Billie Eilish, have publicly backed Vice President Kamala Harris. On the other hand, former President Donald Trump has received endorsements from prominent figures like Elon Musk and Blac Chyna.
Williams’ comments highlight a growing debate on whether celebrities should use their platforms to influence political decisions or keep their opinions to themselves.
