Nigerians Complain of Poor Internet Service As Hardship Protest Begins

—

Nigerians are voicing their frustration over poor network connectivity as the protest against economic hardship, bad governance, and hunger begins today.

Since midnight, MTN users have reported weak internet connections, with many suspecting deliberate interference to stifle communication during the protests.

Social media critic, Daniel Regha wrote: “Hello @MTNNG, @MTN180, why is there internet fluctuations all of a sudden?Let’s not remember what happened during the EndSARS protests, & how the brand was the first to obey FG’s ban of Twitter, but last to lift the ban. Fix up!”

Archbishop tweeted: “Suddenly Mtn’s network is bad  on the day of planned protest, you people know what you’re doing sha”

Chapo posted: “Something is very fishy about mtn network being this terrible on the day of protest. they want us to go blind online lmao. the problem and corruption in this country is far more deep rooted than we think”.

Glo users are experiencing similar issues, with some customers even reporting that their SIM cards have been blocked once again.

Amid these disruptions, Airtel and Etisalat users appear unaffected, experiencing no significant connectivity issues.

MTN has acknowledged the problem and assured customers that they are actively working to restore full service.

To maintain stable internet access, users are turning to Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).

Here are five free VPN options that can help ensure continued connectivity:

1. ProtonVPN: Offers free unlimited data with a focus on security and privacy.

2. Windscribe: Provides 10GB of free data each month, with options to earn additional data.

3. TunnelBear: Offers 500MB of free data monthly, suitable for light browsing.

4. Hide.me: Provides 10GB of free data each month, known for its user-friendly interface.

5. Hotspot Shield: Offers 500MB of free data per day, ideal for occasional use.

These VPNs can help Nigerians maintain communication and access vital information during these critical times.
