Smiling and suffering. Suffering and smiling, though a cliche, it defines us as Nigerians. We get beaten, pulped and pummeled, same hands that gave us red eyes and bloody noses, we hobnob, kiss and cling to, as if nothing happened.
At what point would Nigerians know their real enemies? Those who raped them under the beam of a floodlight and called their bluff?
Cost of living skyrocketing. Price of fuel galloping. Naira stability more like a movement on a treadmill, cost of electricity tariff on the roof top. In all these our cheers for APC is not weaning anytime soon.
The crowd I saw at Edo APC gubernatorial Campaign rally shocked me. The crowd very intimidating, cheering a candidate from a political party that has shown the entire Nigerians shege banza.
What was the joy of the crowd? Their expectations, prospects and hope? What lies were they told that tickled them? Lies that were more believable than the ones told last year?
What magic or rather spell was cast on them? Nigeria burns and smokes with harsh and hardship, all they could be seen doing as if all was well was hyping a political party that ruined their future. Maybe over some lousy naira notes?
Nigerians are credulous. Quick to forget things no matter how gory they seem. Nothing becomes an issue of concern for a long time for an average Nigerian.
We brood over it for few days, life goes on. We talk about it and bemoan over it for weeks, life goes on after.
Nothing gets on our nerves for a long time. Like Amoeba we get aligned with the current situation however debilitating.
For an average Nigerian, God dey! Taking refuge in this mind set of God Dey, an opium to get consoled, thinking tomorrow would be better.
Tommorow from hindsight has never been better. From hindsight the law of gravitational force is lame and weak in Nigeria economy. What goes up has never aligned with the law of gravitational force. It defies it.
We have made ourselves more like clueless claws. Claws meant only to pick nuts for our slave master(Politicians) who though would flog us with animal dried skin, hit us with iron of poverty etc our loyalty to them in their nefarious activities remains unquestioned.
With what this party APC has plunged us into, no sensible Nigerian would be seen singing a song of melody to them. Nothing more than a dirge, a sorrowful mysteries etc that should rend the air for them.
We have experienced too much pain in the last one year, pains more painful, the travail of labour pains seem a child’ play.
Nigerians are the albatrose to themselves. They are the achilles heels to the brightness of their future. They are the spanners in the wheel of their progress. To their slave masters(Politicians) though few in number, they have allowed to continue to mesmerise them and give them nothing but hope in darkness, in pains and in despondency.
Until we discontinue to play this role of clueless claws to Politicians, they would continue to thrive, using us as leverages to achieve their selfish goals.
The truth though bitter is, if we continue playing this clueless role of a claw, APC under Tinubu would continue even beyond 2027.
They have built altars. They have set pattern which is bound to get their delvry and selfish result however unbearable the hardship is.
Until we the masses rise and reprogrammed the pattern through deliberate and intentional holding them accountable, uniting for a common goal and good, shuning division along tribal, religious and political parties lines, we would continue to be smiling and suffering, offering our claws for their nuts while the burnt and heat of the furnace become our gain.
The truth is, all of us including the crowd either rented or organic jumping and chorusing on your mandate we shall stand!!, APC!! renewed ho!! etc at Edo APC gubernatorial Campaign rally have no special place we buy things at a discounted price. We are boxed into same mould!!
