Multiple casualties reported in communal clash in Plateau State

—

In a place called Mikang in Plateau State, there was violence. Some young people from two groups, Taroh and Motola, started fighting.

This fighting happened from Saturday night until Sunday morning. Sadly, some people died because of this fighting.

The Honourable commissioner of information Musa Ashoms said that the fighting was because of an argument about land.

He talked to the leader of Mikang area, who said that this fighting should not have happened.

“I have just called the Mikang Local Government chairman over the issue. He told me that it is something that could have been avoided and not allowed to escalate to the point that people lost their lives, and at the moment, there are persons receiving treatment at the hospital”.

He said it was sad that people died and got hurt. The leader also said that this fighting started because of a small piece of land. He said the land was not even good for farming, but people still fought over it.

The Government official, Musa Ashoms, thinks that it would have been better if the people talked calmly instead of fighting.

He said they could have used other ways to solve their problems without hurting anyone. He wants people to use peaceful ways to solve arguments.

A policeman named Alabo Alfred said that the police are in Mikang now. They are trying to find out what happened.

He also said that things are now okay in Mikang. People are going back to their normal lives.

He added that, there was fighting in Mikang because of land. Some people died, but now things are calm again. The police are checking what happened. Everyone hopes there won’t be any more fighting.
