Lagos Health District Trains Healthcare Workers on Basic Life Support

In a bid to enhance emergency response and improve healthcare outcomes, Lagos Health District III has completed a comprehensive Basic Life Support (BLS) training for its healthcare professionals for swift and timely interventions during emergencies.

The training, held recently, according to the Permanent Secretary of the Health District, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, was aimed at equipping doctors, nurses, and Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs) with essential life-saving skills, as part of the district’s commitment to improving emergency healthcare across Lagos State.

She noted that cardiac arrests and other medical emergencies can occur without warning, and the ability to respond promptly and effectively can be the difference between life and death.

“Through this BLS training, healthcare workers are better prepared to manage such crises, ensuring swift and professional responses that could save lives”, the Permanent Secretary added.

During the training, the Permanent Secretary emphasised the importance of not only mastering these critical skills but also ensuring proper documentation of all emergency responses.

She said: “Accurate data collection is key to tracking outcomes and continuously improving our healthcare delivery system. Our work does not stop at the bedside; it continues through our documentation and analysis”, she noted.

Dr. Adeleke affirmed that the district remains focused on growing and improving the healthcare landscape across Lagos State, ensuring that healthcare workers are well-prepared to protect and serve their communities in times of need.
