The meetings, marked by active participation and dialogue, saw further collaboration with local royalty, including His Royal Highness, Oba Abdul-Lateef Adams, Abiodun I (Onikate of Ikate), to broaden the outreach in Itire-Ikate, Coker-Aguda, and Surulere.
Representing the Oba, Prince Moruf Aribidesi expressed gratitude for the government’s efforts to raise awareness and encouraged local residents to actively oppose and report acts of violence.
The initiative also had significant input from local leadership including Engr. Fatai Adeshina Adelani, CDC Chairman of Itire Ikate LCDA, and Hon. Ogunmola Anthony, Vice-Chairman of Coker Aguda, both of whom attended the engaging sessions.
With informative presentations, the DSVA provided crucial information on the availability of a 24/7 toll-free helpline (08000 333 333), empowering community members with the tools needed to report and respond to SGBV.
The agency’s proactive approach in these communities serves as a cornerstone in the fight against sexual and gender-based violence in Lagos State.
