Kano allocates N4 billion for Saadatu Rimi University

Professor Isa Yahaya Bunkure, the Vice Chancellor of Saadatu Rimi University of Education in Kano, shared exciting news about the state government’s generous approval of N4 billion for upgrading the university’s infrastructure, solidifying its status as a full-fledged university.

During a recent interview in Kano, Prof. Bunkure expressed gratitude for the substantial support received from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration since the university’s establishment.

He highlighted the importance of meeting the National Universities Commission’s requirements and proudly announced that the university has received its license from Abuja.

In his remarks, Prof. Bunkure stressed the significance of recruiting qualified personnel, both academic and non-academic, as a crucial aspect of the university’s growth.

Currently, the university employs a total of 1,322 staff, including 876 academic staff, 371 non-academic staff, and 75 teaching staff in the staff school.

The Vice Chancellor also commended Governor Yusuf’s commitment to enhancing education standards by allocating over N27 billion to education in the 2024 budget.

He specifically acknowledged the approval of over four billion Naira for infrastructural development, which includes the construction of a modern Senate chamber.

Expressing delight at Governor Yusuf’s dedication to educational development, Prof. Bunkure highlighted the university’s transition from a college of education to a recognized university of education.

Accredited by both the National Universities Commission and the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, the institution has been granted an admission quota of two thousand and ninety candidates for the 2023–2024 academic session.

Underlining their commitment to quality education, Prof. Bunkure noted that the university boasts more academic staff with higher degrees than those holding bachelor’s degrees, showcasing their readiness to deliver high-quality education to students.

This transformation reflects the university’s continuous efforts towards academic excellence and growth.
