The Kano state government on Tuesday, August 6, relaxed the 24-hour curfew imposed by 12 hour.
This was revealed by the Commissioner of Police in the state, Salma Dogo, who made the announcement on Tuesday after a State Security Council meeting presided by over by Governor Abba Yusuf in the Kano state Government House.
Recall that Governor Yusuf on Thursday August 1 imposed a 24 hour curfew in the state, following the looting and destruction of public and private properties, killing and maiming of citizens by hoodlums who took advantage of the #EndBadGovernance protest.
According to Dogo on Tuesday, the curfew has been reviewed to restore normalcy for people to go about their legitimate businesses in the state.
The police commissioner added; “Governor Yusuf, after intensive deliberations with members of the state security council, decided to review the curfew from 6 am to 6 pm.”
Dogo called on Kano residents to cooperate with security personnel deployed in and outside the metropolis as law and order are gradually being restored in the state.
He explained that the security agencies would be visible in the metropolis to ensure law and order are maintained.
He called on residents of the state to return to their various homes by 6 p.m., assuring that “the curfew would be reviewed, as the security situation improves”.
The police commissioner disclosed that the governor is urging residents of the state to continue to pray for peace, progress and political stability of the country.
