How to Edit Your DMs on X

—

X (formerly Twitter) has now introduced the ability to edit direct messages (DMs) for iOS users.

This new feature enhances user control over their conversations by allowing modifications to previously sent messages. Here’s how you can make use of this feature:
1. Feature Rollout: The edit function is available exclusively for iOS users on the X app. This update aligns X with other messaging platforms that already support message editing.
2. How to Use:
   – Open the DM chat within the X iOS app.
   – Long press on a sent message or tap the three-dot menu next to it.
   – Select “Edit message” from the options to modify the content of your message.
3. Editing Limits:
   – Users can edit messages without a time restriction.
   – Each message can be edited up to five times.
4. Message History:
   – While X maintains a log of edited messages, it does not display a version history, so recipients will only see the most recent version.
5. Context:
   – Editing messages is a feature available in various other messaging apps, including WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, and Messenger. iMessage also introduced this capability with iOS 16.
This update brings X in line with modern messaging standards, offering greater flexibility and control over communication.
