Governor Inuwa delivers 17 new vehicles to commissioners in Gombe

—

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State presented 17 shiny new GAC GS4 model SUVs to the members of the State Executive Council.

The Governor handed over the vehicles during a short ceremony at the Government House, emphasizing that they are intended to support the Commissioners in their duties and enhance the prestige of their offices.

During the presentation, Governor Inuwa Yahaya pointed out that similar gestures had been extended to the members of the Gombe State House of Assembly.

This, he said, was aimed at facilitating their oversight functions and fostering active participation in governance.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by inflation and the depreciation of the naira, the Governor stressed the importance of maintaining a balance between reducing the cost of governance and ensuring optimal performance in governance.

He highlighted the significance of government ministries, departments, and agencies having utility vehicles to operate effectively.

The Governor cautioned against misuse of the vehicles, emphasizing the need for responsible handling as they are public assets.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya urged the Commissioners to lead by example in managing the vehicles, emphasizing the vehicles’ role in public service.

He emphasized the responsibility of caring for the vehicles properly and warned of the government’s right to withdraw any vehicle found deviating from its intended purpose.

In response, the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Zubair Muhammad Umar, conveyed gratitude on behalf of the Commissioners.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for the vehicles, highlighting how the gesture would significantly aid them in fulfilling their duties.

The Commissioner, in offering assurance to the Governor, expressed a firm commitment on behalf of the State Executive Council members that the vehicles allocated to them would be utilized in a responsible manner.

Furthermore, the Commissioner pledged to take all necessary measures to ensure the longevity and durability of these vehicles throughout their service tenure, emphasizing a dedication to the responsible and sustainable utilization of the allocated resources.
