Erik Ten Hag Extends Contract with Manchester United until 2026

Manchester United has extended Erik Ten Hag’s contract as head coach until 2026.

Erik Ten Hag expressed his satisfaction, saying, “I am very pleased to have reached an agreement with the club to continue working together. Reflecting on the past two years, we can take pride in winning two trophies and making significant progress from where we started.

“However, we must recognize that there is still a lot of hard work ahead to meet Manchester United’s expectations of competing for English and European titles. In discussions with the club, we have found complete unity in our vision for reaching these goals, and we are all committed to making that journey together.”

Dan Ashworth, Manchester United’s sporting director, commented, “With two trophies in the past two seasons, Erik has reinforced his record as one of the most consistently successful coaches in European football. While our review of last season highlighted areas for improvement, it also concluded that Erik is the best partner for us to drive up standards and outcomes.

“This group of players and staff has already shown they can compete and win at the top level; now we need to do it more consistently. With our strengthened football leadership team in place, we look forward to working hand-in-hand with Erik to achieve our shared ambitions for this football club.”

Previously at risk of losing his job before the conclusion of last season, Ten Hag proved his worth by defeating Manchester City in the FA Cup final, prompting the club to revisit their decision. Joining Manchester United from Ajax in 2022, the 54-year-old has delivered a Carabao Cup in his first season and the FA Cup last season.
