The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken significant steps to ensure the safety and security of citizens during the Eld-el-Fitr celebration, by ordering the strategic deployment of over 40,000 personnel across the country.Â
This proactive measure underscores the importance of preemptive action in safeguarding communities.
According to CSC Babawale Afolabi, the spokesperson for the Corps, the decision to deploy such a sizable contingent stems from a commitment to staying ahead of potential security threats.
The directive came directly from NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Audi, who instructed state Commandants to strategically position personnel at key locations and potential flashpoints.
What’s more, the NSCDC is adopting a multifaceted approach, combining both kinetic and non-kinetic methods to address any criminal activities that may arise before, during, and after the Eid-El-Fitr festivities in various states.
This comprehensive strategy aims to swiftly address any security challenges and ensure the safety of all citizens.
Afolabi emphasized the importance of collaboration with sister security agencies, highlighting the need for synergy in efforts to maintain peace and security.
Moreover, he stressed the vital role of active supervision in ensuring the effectiveness of deployed personnel, thus enhancing service delivery.
In addition to focusing on security measures, Afolabi also called upon Muslim faithful to ponder the teachings of Ramadan, emphasizing values such as compassion, unity, and mutual respect.
He urged individuals to extend their thoughts to the most vulnerable and underprivileged members of society, echoing sentiments of goodwill and solidarity.
Afolabi extended warm wishes to all Muslims, expressing hopes for a joyous and peaceful Eid celebration.
This comprehensive approach to security, coupled with a reminder of the fundamental principles of compassion and solidarity, underscores the NSCDC’s commitment to ensuring a safe and harmonious environment for all citizens during this festive period.
