E-Governance: FG to Train 100 Enugu Civil Servants, Lauds Gov Mba’s Digitization Plans

Enugu State has been chosen as one of the states of the Federation, to participate in the e-governance pilot training, billed to commence in the first quarter of 2024.

This was revealed during a meeting of a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy with Dr. Malachy Agbo, the Enugu State Commissioner for Human Development and Poverty Eradication on Tuesday

The Federal Ministry’s delegation to the meeting which held at the Enugu State Commissioner’s office in Enugu, was led by Engr. Ekworo MalcDonald, Chief Programme Analyst, and Mrs Oriloye Elizabeth, Principal Programme Analyst.

The delegation while commending the efforts of the Governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Mbah, towards supporting e-governance and ensuring that accountability and transparency is guaranteed, said Enugu state under Governor Mbah has shown proactiveness towards the digitization of its processes.

According to the delegation, “the pilot programme would train one hundred civil servants on e-governance and other information technology skills that would enhance their ability to deliver on their jobs.

“We wish to commend the state government led by Dr. Peter Mbah, for embarking on e-governance programmes in state.

“The training of civil servants in information technology is in tandem with the vision of the governor, and we are proud to support this sision.

“E-governance is the way to go, as it is the only way to begin to restore the people’s trust in government through transparency and accountability.

“The Federal Government recognizes this fact and is has decided to embark on this training to ensure that civil servants who will actually drive this e-governance process, have an understanding of what is required of them.”

 

Earlier in his welcome remarks, Dr Agbo expressed thanks to the ministry for choosing Enugu State as one of the pilot states for the training, assuring that it has facilities suitable for the training.

He stressed that the state government had started the process of migrating from manual to digital processes in its various ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to enhance work efficiency and effectiveness.

“This announcement is very much much welcome and points to the fact that you (the Federal Government) has recognized what the governor is doing to entrench a system of governance that is responsive, leveraging technology and other 21st Century enablements.

“On our part as a government, the commitment is total and the governor will ensure that this initiative yields the expected result, for the best interest of Enugu people and the entire Nigerian nation,” he assured.
