Burna Boy Sets Global Stage Ablaze: Revolutionizing Perception of African Music

Burna Boy aims to change how people around the world view African music.

Burna Boy recently provided insight into the inspiration behind the worldwide perspective of his music in an interview with Vincent Desmond for the Financial Times.

Just as he always says “ODGWU NOBI NICKNAME” Burna Boy aims to change how people around the world view African music.

Burna Boy, who has established himself as one of the top musicians in the world, was named by the Recording Academy as the biggest music talent to come out of Africa.

At the just concluded 66th Grammy Awards, Burna Boy received four nominations, making history as the first lead Nigerian artist to receive a nomination outside of a worldwide category and as the first African musician to participate in the main ceremony.

Speaking about his music, Burna Boy said that by adding aspects that the younger generation can identify with, he has been able to highlight the rich and varied sounds of Africa.

The ten-time Grammy nominee went on to say that he is pleased with his career for having paved the way for further international partnerships after collaborating with artists from other countries like Ed Sheeran, Stormzy, Dave, Busta Rhyme, Future, and 21 Savage.

“Una dey leak record?”-Burna Boy
Burna Boy went on to say that he wants to utilize his music to demonstrate that African musicians are capable of creating albums that have an international effect and are still relevant to his generation.

According to the Grammy winner, his goal is to change people’s ideas about what African music is capable of. With his latest nomination for Best Melodic Rap Performance for “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” with 21 Savage at the 66th Grammy Awards, Burna Boy is solidifying his reputation as a well-known musician worldwide.
