BUK denies allegations of employing fake professors

Bayero University, Kano’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sagir Abbas, has vehemently rejected an accusation suggesting that the institution harbors a total of 20 individuals falsely claiming the title of professor.

Prof. Abbas refutes and firmly denies any validity to the claim, emphasizing the unwavering commitment of the university to academic integrity and credibility.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the vice-chancellor dismissed the allegations as both malicious and perilous.

The university’s management emphasized that a purported publication circulating on social media, alleging the discovery of 100 fake professors across Nigerian universities, was baseless and aimed at tarnishing Bayero University’s established reputation.

Prof. Sagir clarified that the fake publication asserted that 20 of these alleged fake professors were affiliated with Bayero University.

He strongly denied the existence of any such individuals within the university, citing recent global rankings by reputable assessors and the National Universities Commission’s denial of fake professors in Nigerian universities.

The Vice-Chancellor assured the public that the mentioned 20 fake professors were purely a creation of the false news authors’ imagination, urging people to disregard the publication.

He highlighted Bayero University’s commitment to maintaining high standards and quality across its activities, contributing to various achievements and recognitions.

Notably, the recent global rankings positioned BUK as the fifth-best university in Nigeria for research, training, and academic program quality.

Furthermore, it secured the second position in Nigeria for international outlook according to the Times Higher Education, a UK-based organization.

The university also received recognition as the third-best value institution for international students by Study Abroad Aide, an international educational database assessor based in South Korea.
