Future Queen Kate celebrates 42nd birthday

—

Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales is turning 42 today.

Kate will be celebrating privately with her husband, Prince William, 41, and children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, at their home in Windsor.

King Charles and Queen Camilla sent her a special message on Twitter, along with a nice photo of her taken by Chris Jackson. The picture showed Kate with Charles and Camilla behind the scenes at last year’s coronation.

The royal family’s official Twitter account wished Kate a happy birthday. Military groups and charities she supports also sent her well-wishes.

Westminster Abbey, where Kate and Prince William got married in 2011, will ring its bells at 1:00 pm to honor her.

In the past, the bells at Westminster Abbey used to ring for the birthdays of many royal family members, but due to financial issues from COVID-19, they now only ring for the four most senior royals. This includes Kate on January 9th, Prince William on June 21st, Queen Camilla on July 17th, and King Charles on November 14th. The bells will also ring on June 15th for Trooping the Colour, the King’s public birthday celebration, and other royal events.

On Kate’s birthday weekend, she and Prince William usually host family and friends for activities like shooting. The guest list has included Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, as well as family friends.
