Breaking: Tragic accident on Kaduna-Abuja expressway claims the lives of 16 and leaves 27 injured

The Kaduna Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reported a tragic incident on the Kaduna-Abuja expressway on Sunday.

According to Mr. Kabir Nadabo, the Sector Commander, 16 people lost their lives, and 27 others sustained injuries in a road crash at Audu Jhangon village along the expressway.

The unfortunate event took place at 05:20hrs when a DAF TRAILER, bearing registration number KUJ 430XC and loaded with excess goods, lost control and plunged into a ditch.

Preliminary findings suggest that the vehicle was speeding at the time of the accident.

The combined efforts of rescue teams from RS1.114 Zhipe Unit Command and RS1.16B Dutse Outpost were deployed to carry out rescue operations.

Out of the 65 individuals involved in the crash, 27 were injured and 16 lost their lives.

The injured victims have been promptly taken to the nearest hospital for necessary medical attention.

Upon receiving news of the incident, Mr. Nadabo personally visited the scene to gather firsthand information and provide guidance to the rescue team regarding the evacuation of the deceased to the morgue.

He also directed the deployment of a tow truck to clear the wreckage and facilitate the reopening of the road.

As of now, the operation is ongoing, and the road has been cleared for normal traffic movement.

This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and the need for continuous efforts to enhance road safety.
