Borno Governor Donates N300 Million to Families of Fallen Soldiers

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has pledged N300 million to support the families of soldiers who lost their lives in the fight against Boko Haram.

Zulum made this announcement on Wednesday while speaking to journalists after attending the 2025 MNJTF Operation Desert Sanity 2 Medal Parade in N’Djamena, Chad.

The funds will be distributed through the “Tribute to Our Troops Charity Foundation,” an initiative set up by the Chief of Defence Staff to assist the families of deceased soldiers and those injured in action.

“The soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice. This foundation is a meaningful way to honour them and support their families. Borno State is committed to being part of this cause,” Zulum said.

He emphasized that the insurgency in the North East has significantly reduced but called on the military to increase efforts to eliminate the remaining Boko Haram fighters in the Lake Chad region.

The MNJTF Medal Parade, first held in 2017, recognizes the sacrifices and commitment of troops fighting Boko Haram across the Lake Chad Basin.

Governor Zulum also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership in addressing insecurity, praising his efforts to motivate the military and work toward lasting peace in the region.
