Deep! My simplest way to define life. Complex! My off the cuff reaction to what human beings are. These two are powerful tools in human relationships, understanding them the best way possible, gives one an edge over situations.
The truth is, not everyone with a friendly mien is a friend, the heart can be deceitful and the face as glittering and shining may cover a lot beyond human imagination.
Has it ever worried you why bad news travel so wide, with the speed of lightning and goodnews wobble like an aged Tortoise? Have you bothered to find out why bad news is like feathers in whirlwind? And goodnews like same feather stuck in mud?
Have you seen it as something of a concern when the very souls that should be overly emotional and joyful over what seems to be a breakthrough or cheering exploits about one seem indifferent, forlorn, smearing rather in some cases?
But same crop of seeming friends, well-wishers speak rather with vigor and energy, in sympathy to one’s misfortunes? This is the complex of human nature, deep and palpably intricate.
For instance, why is it that news of an ingenious scientific discovery gets less traction, while the one for marital infidelity spreads like wildfire? The social media platforms have been a speechless example of how negativity is adored over positivity. How goodnews gets muffled and the weird and stinkest news fly with the speed of a Cheetah.
The truth is, an average human being is negativity biased, so wired in reacting to negative things with a tickle but remain demotivated by the purity and goodness of goodnews.
This negativity baise creates around their fingers and mouth an adrenaline surge to either share or spread the badnews with swiftness, they wouldn’t contemplate bringing same energy to bear when goodnews is involved.
People tend to be more comfortable sharing news about you that would elicit sympathy, shame, ignominy, embarrassment than the ones that would place one on the screen for public appreciation and commendation.
Our world is one that is replete with amazing Broadcasters, whose specialties are on bad news. They are so gifted at it, the skills in presenting such badnews remain unparalleled, always the first to broadcast it but gets dumb and taciturn with goodnews.
If you must be a Broadcaster, broadcast only goodnews, things that place one on the platform of honour and integrity. News that encourages reward for handwork, diligence and commitment. Broadcast only goodnews and be an intercessor to badnews.
News on infidelity, human weakness and flaws of someone shouldn’t patronise the mic of one’s broadcasting skills, rather ones intercession
The image of Nigeria is today smeared, battered in corrugated dimensions in the global space, no thanks to negativity biase through the mic of Broadcasters of bad news.
Nobody gets to know about the richness of our culture, the fertile land, the deep rare and innovative brain of Nigerians. No! they wouldn’t broadcast such. Nigerians may obviously have their shuko shuko(flaws) The truth is, the broadcast of the bad features of Nigeria overwhelms her amazing qualities.
Until we get to that point both in our relationship with people and in projecting our nation, of having the predilection of broadcasting nothing but goodnews and interceding in private for the ills, shame and disgrace of people’s life, running with hare and chasing with the hound will always be our identity.
This is the real nature of 80% of people hanging around us as friends, loved ones, colleagues etc. They run with the hare and chase with the hound. Saying one thing and meaning a different thing. Celebrating more of ones misfortunes with a friendly mien while the sterling sparkles of ones breakthrough are either glossed over or mentioned with grimed disposition.
In your relationship with people, try to be that Broadcaster that goes for goodnews about people. Goodnews that profile them in the brightest light of morals, values, accomplishment and integrity.
News that would herald them into heroism. Celebrate them with sincerity of hearts and at best shun being that mic that amplifies bad news. Instead in this breath, be an intercessor for a better them. It pays not, spreading the bad feathers of others with the intention of jeering at them. If you have nothing nice to say, keep quiet!! Be that positive change you desire. There are bad and good everywhere, the one we choose to project becomes our storyline.
Be that wonderful Broadcaster that amplifies nothing but goodnews. Be also that determined intercessor that prays quietly against the ills and malfeasance of others without making them a spectacle.
