Real actors don’t go into politics – Funsho Adeolu

Nollywood veteran Funsho Adeolu holds firm to his belief that actors should steer clear of politics. In a recent episode of comedian Teju Babyface’s King of Talk Podcast, Adeolu emphasized the incompatibility of acting and politics, asserting that he identifies solely as an “actor,” not a “celebrity.”

He adamantly stated, “When people call me a celeb I say no. I’m an actor, not a celeb, I don’t know what you mean by celebrity.” According to Adeolu, actors are dedicated to their craft until their last breath, unlike politicians who pursue other interests. When questioned by Babyface about a politician in Lagos who is also an actor, Adeolu stood firm, denying that politicians can be considered actors.

“For me, I’m an actor and all those other people who become politicians are not actors,” he affirmed. Adeolu’s conviction stems from his deep passion for acting, which he views as a lifelong calling akin to preaching. He believes that those who truly love acting would never consider a career change, as acting is not just a profession but a way of life.
