What is YouTube Payment Process Like?

YouTube payment

The YouTube payment process involves several steps and ultimately depends on how you’re earning money on the platform.

Here’s a breakdown of the two main avenues:

1. YouTube Partner Program (YPP):

  • Earning methods: This covers ad revenue from Watch Page and Shorts Feed ads, YouTube Premium revenue, Super Chat & Super Stickers, Channel memberships, and merchandise sales.
  • Requirements: You need to be at least 18 (or have a legal guardian over 18), live in a YPP-supported region, meet YouTube’s content guidelines, and have at least 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours in the past year.
  • Payment setup:
    • AdSense account: You’ll need an AdSense account linked to your YouTube channel to receive payments.
    • Verification: Once your earnings reach a certain threshold, you’ll need to verify your address with a PIN mailed to you.
    • Payment method selection: When your earnings reach another threshold, you can choose your preferred payment method (options vary by region). Common methods include electronic funds transfer (EFT), wire transfer, and check.
  • Payment cycle: Earnings are accrued monthly, finalized at the beginning of the following month, and paid between the 21st and 26th of that month if they exceed the payment threshold and there are no holds. It can take up to 7 business days to receive the payment in your account.

2. Super chat & Super Stickers:

  • Earning method: Viewers can pay to highlight their messages in live chats or comments using Super Chat & Super Stickers.
  • Payment process: Similar to YPP, earnings flow through AdSense with the same verification and payment cycle.
