Vice President Shettima Visits Maiduguri to Mourn Fallen Soldiers in Damboa Attack

Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, on Friday Night to offer condolences to the families of soldiers who lost their lives during a terrorist attack in Damboa.

The Vice President is representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the federal government in honoring the ultimate sacrifice made by the fallen soldiers.

These brave troops repelled an attack at a Forward Operating Base in Sabon Gari, neutralizing 34 terrorists before losing their lives.

In response to the tragic event, President Tinubu has ordered a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the incident and to prevent future occurrences.

He also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, stating that their sacrifice in defending the nation will always be remembered and honored.

The President praised the armed forces for their swift retaliation, particularly the air component, which launched effective airstrikes that neutralized many fleeing terrorists and destroyed their assets.

During his visit, Vice President Shettima will also meet with Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum to extend condolences on behalf of the President.

The Vice President’s delegation includes Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan (Borno Central), Hon. Abdulkadir Rahis (Maiduguri Metropolitan Constituency), Hon. Usman Zannah (Kaga/Magumeri/Gubio Constituency), Minister of Transportation Hon. AjiKolo Ali Gujja, and prominent politician Senator Saidu Alkali, among others.

On his arrival at Maiduguri International Airport, Vice President Shettima was welcomed by Governor Zulum, Deputy Governor Umar Kadafur, Minister of State for Regional Development Uba Maigari Ahmadu, Special Adviser to the President on Health Dr. Salma Anas-Kolo, and Deputy National Chairman of the APC (North), Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori.
