The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested former Minister of Power, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, following reports that he had earlier been convicted in absentia.
According to the commission, the former minister, Saleh Mamman, had been on the run before he was apprehended in the Rigasa area of Kaduna State.
EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, confirmed the arrest, stating that Mamman was previously convicted and sentenced in absentia to 75 years imprisonment over corruption-related offences.
Authorities say further details regarding his arraignment and possible transfer into custody are expected in the coming hours.
Saleh Mamman served as Minister of Power under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
