The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards which kicked held on September 12 had some of the biggest names in music walking the red carpet at the New Jersey’s Prudential Center.
Taylor Swift won a record-breaking nine awards, including Video of the Year, Song of the Year, and Artist of the Year for her song “Anti-Hero”.
Shakira received the Video Vanguard Award for her outstanding contributions to music videos. She performed a medley of her hits, including “Hips Don’t Lie” and “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).” The mother was cheered on by her sons who accompanied her to the event.
Rema & Selena Gomez’s “Calm Down” also took home the award for best Afrobeatz.
Diddy received the Global Icon Award for his impact on music and culture. He performed a medley of his hits, including “I’ll Be Missing You” and “Mo Money Mo Problems.”
K-pop boy band TOMORROW X TOGETHER and Anitta debuted their collaboration, “Back For More.” The song is a blend of their respective sounds, and the performance was a visual spectacle.
