Media personality Toke Makinwa introduced her daughter, Yakira Eliana, to the public on Friday, August 7, sharing photos of the child’s face as she marked her first birthday.
Makinwa posted the photos on Instagram and X with a message speaking on the past year. She wrote: “The best part of my story, finally yours to meet.” She described her daughter as her “greatest love” and referenced the biblical figure Hagar, saying she had experienced God as “El-roi, the God who sees me.”
She also addressed her followers directly, writing, “Guys, meet your niece. I cooked ohhhhhh. She is beautiful.” She used several nicknames for her daughter in the post, including YaYa, Ya Pom Pom, and Ya mama.
Days before sharing the photos, Toke Makinwa posted a video saying motherhood had changed her outlook. She said, “Y’all need to chat with me differently now. I’m the mother of a one-year-old.” In the same video, she said she planned to fly her daughter to London for a birthday celebration.

So far, the birthday post has drawn a large number of comments from fans and fellow celebrities. On Instagram, one user wrote that Yakira looked “like a baby doll.” Another commenter wished the child a blessed year ahead. A third called her “gorgeous.”
On X, reactions followed a similar pattern, with many users sending birthday wishes and praising the child’s appearance. One user wrote that Yakira “will make your family and loved ones proud.” Many others called her “beautiful.”
Makinwa has not disclosed Yakira’s father. She has previously spoken about her decision to become a mother outside marriage, a choice that drew criticism from a clergywoman earlier this year. The clergywoman said Makinwa was wrong to have a child outside marriage and warned her of consequences, while urging her to represent the values she claims to hold as a Christian.
