Lagos Court Kills Ownership Claim Over State Liaison Office

Magistrate Court 1, Igbosere, Lagos State, has struck out an ownership claim over the Nasarawa State Government Liaison Office at Plot 1234, Bishop Oluwole Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, ruling that it lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter.

The ruling, delivered on Friday, August 28, 2026, by the Honourable Chief Magistrate, effectively dismissed the application brought in connection with the disputed property.

The claim was instituted by Abdullahi Muhammed Maiturare, who said he was appointed by Planet Backbone and Hightec System Limited, a company claiming ownership of the property.

Reacting to the development, the Lagos State Chapter of the Nasarawa Indigenes Development Forum (NIDEF) described the ruling as a major victory for Nasarawa State and the protection of its public assets.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Musa Ikwushigya Adamusa, NIDEF said the ruling reaffirmed the principle that public property must be protected and preserved in the collective interest of the people.

“This is not merely a victory for the Forum. It is a victory for Nasarawa State and for the fundamental principle of accountability and transparency in the management of public assets,” NIDEF said.

The forum commended Nasarawa indigenes for their vigilance and advocacy, while acknowledging the role played by the state government and relevant authorities in safeguarding the property.

NIDEF also praised its legal team, led by Barrister Ifeoma Ben and Barrister Peace Igbo, for their diligence and professional representation.

The forum maintained that public assets were held in trust for present and future generations and must not be treated as private possessions.

“This development should serve as a reminder that the commonwealth of Nasarawa State must be protected, preserved and responsibly managed in accordance with the law,” NIDEF stated.
