Sowore Knocks Amaechi Over Calls For Protest

—

Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate and outspoken activist, has sounded the alarm on the cyclical pattern of Nigerian elderly leaders creating problems and then expecting the youth to fix them.

In a recent post, Sowore expressed his frustration with this dynamic, highlighting how these same leaders then question the youth’s ability to lead due to lack of experience.

Sowore’s comments were sparked by former Governor and Minister Rotimi Amaechi’s statement that he expected Nigerian youth to take to the streets and protest the country’s growing hardship. Sowore sees this as a classic example of elderly leaders passing the buck and undermining the youth’s capacity for leadership.
“This is a recurring theme in Nigerian politics,” Sowore noted. “The elderly leaders create a mess, then ask the youth to clean it up. But when the youth step up to lead, they’re told they lack experience. It’s a vicious cycle that prevents meaningful change.”
Sowore’s solution to this impasse is clear: a revolution. He believes that the only way to break this cycle is for the youth to take charge and demand a better future for themselves and their country. His rallying cry, #RevolutionNow, has gained traction on social media, with many Nigerians echoing his sentiments.
As Nigeria grapples with growing hardship, insecurity, and economic stagnation, Sowore’s call to action resonates with a generation eager for change. Will the youth rise to the challenge and demand a better future, or will the status quo prevail? Only time will tell.
