Manchester United has begun their 2024-25 pre-season campaign with a defeat against Norwegian outfit Rosenborg this evening at the Lerkendal Stadion (Trondheim).
Despite fielding senior players like Casemiro, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Mason Mount, Jonny Evans, and Marcus Rashford, they still fell behind Rosenborg in terms of possession and dangerous goal attempts made in the entire 90 minutes. Noah Holm’s late strike in the closing minutes separated both sides.
Erik ten Hag, who seemed not to be pleased with the performance against Rosenborg, described it as below standard:
“The result is not secondary. Our performance as a team is by far not good enough. This is not the standard of top football. We are Manchester United, we should perform better.”
