Yesterday, the police in Katsina State reported that their officers successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt in the Dandume community.Â
According to a statement from the police spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the incident led to the death of one bandit, and the recovery of a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG).
The police received information about suspected armed bandits moving towards the Dandume local government area.
In response, the Dandume divisional police headquarters, with the support of Operation Sharan Daji and Restore Peace, quickly mobilized to the scene.
A fierce gun battle ensued between the police team and the suspected bandits, resulting in the repulsion of the attack.
During the subsequent investigation of the area, the police discovered the body of one suspected bandit and seized a General Purpose Machine Gun along with 27 rounds of 94.5mm live ammunition.
The Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the officers for their swift action and urged the people of the state to provide timely information about suspected criminal activities.
He underscored the importance of this, emphasizing that it would empower not only the police but also other security agencies to take swift action in upholding peace and security within the region.
