A gentleman by the name of Nafiu Hafiz found himself in a situation where he owed a sum of N10 million to a couple, namely Dayyabu Abdullahi and Hasfat Surajo.
Initially, Hafiz assured them that he would settle the debt in October, which was 10 months after he had taken the loan.
Unfortunately, as the agreed-upon deadline approached, Hafiz encountered difficulties and, realizing he couldn’t meet the financial commitment, earnestly requested an extension.
He sought additional time, proposing a new repayment deadline set for December. Despite his intentions, circumstances prevented him from fulfilling this promise.
In a surprising turn of events, during Hafiz’s latest attempt to secure more time for repayment, a shocking incident occurred on a Wednesday.
It is reported that Hafiz was allegedly stabbed by the wife of the lending couple, adding a layer of complexity to the already tense situation.
This unforeseen and distressing development raises questions about the appropriate means of resolving financial disputes and underscores the importance of seeking amicable solutions.
Shockingly, instead of reporting his death, the couple kept his body in their house. Later that night, they informed Hafiz’s father that his son had gone to the hospital for surgery and died.
A friend of the deceased, Fatima Gambo, revealed this information. She mentioned that when Hafiz asked for an additional extension, he was stabbed.
The couple then falsely claimed he went to the hospital, leading to suspicion. Hafiz’s father and brothers, arriving from Bauchi State, discovered the body still bleeding when they went to collect it for burial.
The couple insisted they had called an Imam for Islamic burial rites, but the suspicious circumstances prompted one of Hafiz’s brothers, Hafizu Salisu, to contact the police.
The state command spokesperson, Haruna Abdullahi, confirmed the tragic incident and assured that an investigation is underway to bring those responsible to justice.
