The Lagos State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the deaths of two members of a Nollywood production crew found inside a parked vehicle in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
The incident occurred on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Evercare Hospital, which was being used as a filming location. The deceased were identified as Ekemini “GeeTee” Imeh, a lighting director and Chief Executive Officer of GeeTee Light, and Ayodeji Walter Odediran, also known as Director Carrinqton, a creative video director.
According to police sources, the two men arrived early at the location to install lighting equipment for a film reportedly directed by a former Big Brother Naija participant. After completing the installation, they entered a tinted Nissan vehicle parked within the premises to rest while awaiting further production activities.
A police source said, “The two crew members arrived early on set and completed installation of lighting equipment before shooting began. They later entered a tinted Nissan vehicle to rest while awaiting further production activities.”
At about 11 a.m., a production staff member delivered breakfast to them inside the vehicle. The air-conditioning was reportedly running at the time. Subsequent calls to their phones went unanswered. After filming ended at about 7 p.m. or 8 p.m., colleagues found them unresponsive in the vehicle.
Another source stated, “At about 11 a.m., a production staff member delivered breakfast to them inside the vehicle. The air-conditioning was on, and both men appeared relaxed. While filming was ongoing, calls to their phones went unanswered. It was after filming ended that their lifeless bodies were found.”
Witnesses reported that one of the men was seated upright with foam around his mouth, while the other was slumped and had blood stains around his nose and lips. There were no immediate signs of violence on the bodies.
The case was initially reported at the Maroko Police Station and later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi confirmed the development, stating, “The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation while autopsy and toxicology examinations are being conducted to determine the cause of death.”
Investigators have questioned the film producer, the director, the crew member who delivered the meal, hospital management, and the food vendor, who remains in custody. CCTV footage from the premises is being reviewed. Authorities are also examining environmental factors around the parking area, including the operation of industrial generators, as well as the mechanical condition of the vehicle.
Speaking to reporters, Kola Odediran, elder brother of the late Walter Odediran, said, “Walter and I were like twin brothers. He was 36 and the last-born of our family. He was very close to Godstime Imeh. They worked hand-in-hand on movie productions.”
He added, “Around 10 a.m., they decided to take a break inside GeeTee’s car. Food was delivered to them; that was the last time anyone saw them alive. Around 7 or 8 p.m., after shooting wrapped, they were found inside the car. My brother was seated upright with foam at his mouth, while GeeTee was slumped, with blood from his nose, eyes, and mouth. It appeared whatever happened occurred suddenly.”
Imeh was known for his work on major productions, including King of Boys, and music videos for artists such as Davido.
The bodies have been deposited in a morgue pending autopsy results. Police authorities said findings will be made public after forensic examinations are completed.
