The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has destroyed substandard and counterfeit products valued at ₦43 billion in Ibadan, Oyo State.Â
This action took place at a dumpsite in Moniya, Akinyele Local Government Area.
The items included falsified drugs, medical devices, and other unwholesome regulated goods, which were either seized during raids or voluntarily handed over by organizations and companies complying with NAFDAC regulations.
 A variety of products, such as sex enhancement drugs, over-the-counter medications, and prescription-only pharmaceuticals, were among the items destroyed.
The agency’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate led multiple raids nationwide, targeting illegal warehouses and premises in Lagos and other areas.
This effort resulted in the confiscation of unregistered drugs, including banned substances like Codeine and expired medications. In total, products worth over ₦700 million were seized during these operations.
NAFDAC urged the public to report illegal manufacturing or distribution of fake products to aid in its ongoing efforts to ensure public safety.
The destruction event was observed by various stakeholders, including representatives from security agencies and the Oyo State Government.
