MURIC Hails Soludo’s Candid Remarks on South-East Insecurity, Endorses Him as Presidential Material

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has applauded Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for what it called his bold and honest stance on the source of insecurity in the South-East.

Governor Soludo, during a recent town hall meeting with Anambra indigenes in the U.S., stated that contrary to popular belief, the majority of kidnappings and killings in the region are not carried out by Fulani herders but by criminal elements within the Igbo community.

“99.99% of those arrested for kidnappings and other crimes in Anambra since I took office have been Igbos,” Soludo told attendees at the event held in Maryland, USA.

In a statement issued Friday, July 11, 2025, MURIC’s Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, described Soludo’s comment as “a landmark declaration” and “an eye-opener.”

“Soludo didn’t dance to the gallery. He spoke the truth regardless of whose ox is gored. That’s presidential quality,” MURIC said.

The Islamic human rights group praised the governor’s courage in dispelling stereotypes, noting that crimes have no ethnic or religious identity.

“This is how national healing begins—when leaders rise above tribal sentiments. Soludo is a treasure without measure, and the Igbos must rally behind him,” the statement added.

MURIC also urged other leaders in the region to emulate Soludo’s example and reject the dangerous narrative that links crime exclusively to the Fulani ethnic group.

The group concluded by calling on Nigerians to stop profiling ethnic groups and instead embrace unity, truth, and justice.
