Murdered FUT Minna Lecturer to be Laid to Rest on Saturday

Dr. Mrs. Fumilola Adefolalu, a respected lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry at the School of Life Sciences, Federal University of Technology, Minna, met a tragic end at the hands of her housemaid. The somber occasion of her funeral is scheduled for Saturday, November 18, 2023.

Preceding the funeral, a wake-keep is arranged to occur on Friday at her residence in the Gbaiko area of Minna. Following this, a solemn service will take place at the Voice of Mercy Ministry in Nkangbe. The final resting place for Dr. Adefolalu will be the Christian Cemetery along David Mark road in Minna.

The grim circumstances surrounding her demise unfolded when Adefolalu was murdered by her housemaid, Joy Afekafe, along with two accomplices. Presently in police custody, Afekafe confessed to assaulting and fatally stabbing Dr. Adefolalu. To add to the tragedy, she also stole the late lecturer’s phone and laptop before leaving her for dead.

The deeply distressing revelation of Dr. Adefolalu’s lifeless body, submerged in a pool of blood and encircled by grievous wounds and the very instruments employed in the heinous attack, unfolded when a group of concerned individuals, prompted by her conspicuous absence from church, undertook a solemn visit to her residence.

This heart-wrenching incident, laden with profound sorrow, has not only permeated the immediate academic community but has also cast an overarching shadow, resonating with a sense of melancholy that extends beyond the confines of lecture halls and laboratories.
