Upcoming singer Ayo Maff has been criticized by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the PRO of Lagos Police, for the lyrics of his latest song “Last Week.”
The Lagos State police called the lyrics “indecent.” In the song, Ayo Maff boasts about using a strong imported strain of marijuana called Canadian Loud, starting on the first day of the week and running out by Saturday.
SP Hundeyin expressed concerns about these lyrics in response to a popular clip of the song on social media platform X. He stated that drug use can lead to criminal behavior and noted that many young people in prison today might not be there if they hadn’t started using drugs.
Hundeyin wrote, “What does he do on Mondays and Saturdays? Listen closely. Like Asa said, there is fire on the mountain, and nobody seems to be running. Fact: Half of the young ones in prison today wouldn’t be there if they didn’t do drugs. Drugs are a precursor to everything bad.”
He ended his statement with the Yoruba phrase, “Eni a wi fun…”
SP Hundeyin’s comments highlight the serious concerns about drug use and its impact on youth and society.
