Traders in Kano State decided they will lower the prices of the things they sell.

The person in charge of the traders, Ibrahim Danyaro, talked to reporters after meeting with the Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission. They talked about how they will lower the prices of things people need, like food.

This happened because the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission found 10 big places where people were keeping lots of food.

But the people who own these places were not there when the commission went to check. Inside these places, they found many things like spaghetti, rice, pasta, sugar, and other food.

But Danyaro said that the traders are already selling things for less money than the companies that make these things.

They decided to lower the prices even more because people are complaining that everything is getting too expensive and life is becoming hard.

Danyaro also said that they want to help the commission find the people who are making prices too high and keeping lots of things to sell later.

He said, “We want to show that we are not part of keeping things and making prices too high.”

He also said, “The prices going up in the market is not our fault. It’s the companies that make these things.

“We want to help make the prices lower for people. But we can only sell things at the prices we bought them for. We can’t sell them for less than what we paid.”

Another leader in the market, Hamisu Rabi’u, said they will keep selling things for the same price they were before, even if the prices go up in other places.

He said, “For example, spaghetti that we used to sell for N11,500 or N11,700 is now being sold for N12,800 by companies.

But we still sell it for N12,800. Sugar is sold for N72,000 by companies but we sell it for N70,000. Rice is sold for N65,700 now but we still sell it for N57,000 to N60,000. We will keep selling things for the same prices to help our people, even if it means we lose money.”
