JAMB introduces certificate verification prerequisite for DE admission

—

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a notification to candidates seeking Direct Entry (DE) admission for the 2023 academic session.

In an official statement, JAMB emphasized the critical requirement of certificate verification for the admission process.

Candidates who pursued A-Level qualifications have been urged by JAMB to promptly reach out to their former institutions for the necessary certificate verification.

This verification step is deemed crucial by the Board, and candidates have been advised to establish timely communication with their respective former institutions.

JAMB revealed that it has proactively contacted all tertiary institutions responsible for issuing these certificates.

While a significant number of institutions responded promptly and positively to the verification process, some were found to be non-responsive.

The official statement from JAMB reads, “This is to notify all A-Level candidates who applied for 2023 admissions through Direct Entry (DE) to contact their former institutions for prompt verification of their certificates.”

In an effort to streamline and expedite the verification process, JAMB has communicated directly with institutions. However, there is a noticeable disparity in responses, with some institutions demonstrating promptness while others are lagging.

The Board explicitly stated, “Please be advised that the Board will not process any DE admission without certificate verification, and that the admission process for the academic year will be completed soon.”

In a notable stance, JAMB made it clear that candidates associated with non-responsive institutions may face exclusion from consideration for admissions in the upcoming academic year.

This emphasizes the importance of adhering to the verification process to ensure a smooth admission procedure.

For the convenience of candidates, JAMB has provided a link to a list of non-responsive institutions.

This list serves as a reference for individuals to ascertain the status of their former institutions in relation to the verification process.

JAMB’s communication underscores the significance of certificate verification for A-Level candidates applying for Direct Entry admissions in 2023.

The Board’s commitment to a fair and thorough admission process is evident, with a stern warning regarding the exclusion of candidates from non-responsive institutions.
