FilmOne Entertainment also confirmed the result, stating: “₦104.8M in its opening weekend, biggest Easter opening, and the highest-grossing film of the weekend.”
‘Return of Arinzo’ is a sequel to the 2013 Yoruba film Arinzo, which explored themes of crime and personal change. The new release continues the story with a focus on politics, family relationships and hidden scandals. It follows a public figure who returns home with his fiancée during his father’s presidential campaign, a visit that leads to the exposure of a long-concealed controversy involving a powerful figure.
The film was directed by Iyabo Ojo and produced under Fespris Production.
The cast includes Olukanmi Abayomi, Nenesenor Abloso, Mercy Aigbe, Bimbo Akintola, Scarlet Gomez, Priscilla Ojo, Patrick Kanumba, Yinka Quadri, Ayo Mogaji, Chioma Ikokwu, Eniola Adeoluwa and Juma Jux.
Cinema operators reported increased attendance during the holiday period, with the film drawing large audiences in major cities. The distributor said the film “is doing more than a run… it’s making a statement,” noting that viewers “filled the cinemas” during its opening days.
The film remains in cinemas nationwide.
