Immigration officer and two suspected culprits arraigned for alleged drug trafficking

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Friday brought an immigration officer, Sanni Adeola and two others before the Federal High Court in Lagos for alleged drug dealing.

The two others were Eyah Nnamdi Celestine a.ka. Murphy and Hien Narcisse a.k.a. Ugwuoke Peter Oluchukwu.

Eyah and Hien were arraigned before Justice Nicholas Oweibo for alleged conspiracy, unlawful possession and export of 1.00 kilograms of Methamphetamine, a narcotic substance.

Sanni, said to be attached to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, was arraigned before the same judge on one count of aiding and abetting Eyah and Hien to illegally export the banned substance.

He alleged that both Eyah and Hien at Avenue Garden, Ago Palace Way, Lagos, conspired to unlawfully export 1.00 kilograms of Methamphetamine

The court heard that the first defendant, Eyah, procured the second defendant, Hien to commit the offence. Eyah and Hien pleaded guilty. However, Adeola pleaded not guilty.

Eyah and Hien’s counsel Mr. Uche Okoronkwo prayed the court to temper justice with mercy and give his clients non-custodian sentences.

Justice Oweibo sentenced each convict to two years imprisonment on each count but with an option of a N1 million fine each in lieu of jail term.

Adeola’s counsel, Chief Benson Ndakara, applied for his bail. He was opposed by the prosecutor.

But Justice Oweibo ruled in Adeola’s favour and admitted the immigration officer to bail in the sum of N2million with one surety in the like sum, among other terms.
