Ekiti APC Win Sparks Osun Confidence Ahead August Poll

A leader of the All Progressives Congress (All Progressives Congress) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has declared that the party is already positioning itself to mirror its recent electoral success in Ekiti State during the upcoming August 15 governorship contest in Osun.

Oyintiloye made the remarks on Sunday in Osogbo while reacting to the outcome of the Ekiti governorship election, where Gov. Biodun Oyebanji secured re-election.

He described the Ekiti result as a strong public endorsement of leadership continuity, saying the scale of victory reflected deep voter satisfaction and confidence in the administration’s performance.

According to him, the development further reinforces the belief that citizens continue to support governance anchored on development, inclusion, and welfare delivery.

The APC stalwart argued that the party’s showing in Ekiti had once again demonstrated its widening acceptance, adding that similar political momentum would be replicated in Osun.

He also commended the leadership of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), led by National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and National Secretary Sen. Ajibola Basiru, crediting them with strengthening internal cohesion and strategic direction.

“The Ekiti result has shown that when a party remains united, focused and committed to grassroots engagement, victory becomes inevitable.

“It is a clear lesson for us in Osun that teamwork, dedication and collective responsibility are indispensable for electoral success,” he said.

He urged party members in Osun to intensify mobilisation efforts, stressing that unity and discipline would be crucial ahead of the poll.

Oyintiloye further pointed to the continued involvement of former Osun governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, noting that his engagement with stakeholders had helped sustain the party’s structure since the last governorship election.

He said ongoing grassroots outreach and political engagements were aimed at expanding support across communities and strengthening the APC’s presence in all local government areas.

On the party’s flag bearer, Bola Oyebamiji, Oyintiloye expressed strong confidence in his chances, describing him as a credible and well-prepared candidate capable of delivering effective leadership.

“The people of Ekiti have reaffirmed their belief in progressive governance.

“By the grace of God, the people of Osun will do the same on Aug. 15 by electing Oyebamiji as the next governor of the state,” he said.

He maintained that growing internal harmony within the party and increasing acceptance among voters were indicators of what he called an impending electoral breakthrough.

The APC chieftain went further to caution the opposition, insisting that the ruling party in Osun should brace for defeat at the polls.

“The victory secured by the APC in Ekiti will be replicated in Osun. The party is widely accepted by the people, and this is a clear signal to the ruling party to brace for defeat.

“Our candidate is ready, the party is ready and the electorate are ready to repeat the same victory in Osun,” he said.

He added that the outcome in Ekiti had energised party supporters in Osun, urging even opposition supporters to acknowledge the growing momentum of the APC.

“We are ready. We have waited long enough, and by Aug. 15, the victory recorded in Ekiti will be replicated in Osun, and the state will return to progressive leadership.

“Both the opposition and the ruling party should recognise that the APC is poised to return to power,” he said.

Oyintiloye also appealed to voters to sustain their support for the party, assuring that its administration would prioritise public welfare if elected.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (Independent National Electoral Commission) had earlier announced Oyebanji as winner of the Ekiti governorship election after he polled 319,224 votes, defeating candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (Peoples Democratic Party) and the African Democratic Congress (African Democratic Congress) across the 16 local government areas of the state.
