Notorious bandit leader Bello Turji on Saturday released a new video obtained by The News Chronicle in which he claimed responsibility for killing several individuals allegedly involved in cattle rustling in the Isa, Sabon Birni, and Shinkafi areas.
However, in a separate development, a patrol team of the Nigerian Army came under attack on Friday in an ambush near Bargaja town in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
According to reports, the attackers used an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted along the roadside to target the troops during the operation.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over the deteriorating security situation in parts of Sokoto and neighbouring Zamfara State, where armed groups continue to carry out attacks despite ongoing military operations in the region.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the casualties or the extent of damage caused by the explosion.
