In Kano, a troubling incident unfolded in the Badawa area, where operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) were reportedly involved in the shooting of a young man on Saturday.
The altercation occurred during what appears to have been an attempt by the DSS to prevent a neighborhood drainage system from being constructed near the house of one of their senior officials.

Eyewitnesses claim that the DSS officers were enforcing the wishes of an assistant director in the service, whose home was located in the path of the proposed gutter.
This construction, they said, was in line with town planning directives and had been approved by local authorities.
In addition to the shooting, several residents, including women and elderly individuals, were allegedly subjected to arrests and mistreatment by the DSS operatives.
Locals have expressed outrage over the actions of the officers, accusing them of using excessive force and acting in violation of both the law and basic human rights.
The incident has sparked tension in the neighborhood, with many calling for an investigation into the conduct of the DSS personnel involved.
